  • Notes
    • When Tony was born Mum's address was 151 church Rd, teddington(living with parents). Dad Private 13065352 Pioneer corps(Despatch Clerk, Departmental Stores) of 151 church Rd,Teddington. (really living at Somerset Road but house hadminimal bomb damage but had to be vacated). In 2006, whilst Keith was still alive, May had become verydistressed at being at home. Although she went to her daycentres Monday to Friday she was lonely as soon as she camehome. Weekends were a nightmare for her. During this time, although the rest of us did not know it, Keith was seriously illand eventually died on the 5 September 2006. Tim was living inWales and Pat in Plymouth. Pat would go approximately everysix weeks to see May but due to travelling time it did not leavemuch time for the visit. May begged to go into a nursing homeand despite trying to persuade her otherwise she really wantedto go. In July\August 2006 she went into to Greville House atRichmond Surrey. This did not help as she felt people were"hoity toity" and her friend Ada and daughter Marie were notable to visit as often as they had originally said. Maybecame very depressed and when Pat suggested she move her to anursing home in Plymouth she wanted to do this. On the 4December she moved to St James Lodge, Molesworth Road, Plymouth.Although it took her a little while to fit it she was fairlyhappy as Pat was able to see her most days to start with andthen two days a week. On Sundays she would go into the CityCentre with Pat for shopping, tea (including cake) which sheloved. A couple of months before she passed away she becamefrail and the staff would not let her go out with Pat as theydid not feel it was safe. She became more and more withdrawnand despite Pat almost begging to take her out they did not feelit was safe. On the 21 July there was a garden party in thegrounds of the nursing home and with a bit of pushing Patmanaged to get her out in the garden. She perked up no end, asking "where did this lot come from", "I didnt know it washere", "how often is it here". She smiled at the children, doing her little clucking sound at one little girl. Sheenjoyed the afternoon very much. The next day Sunday Patasked Marianne if she could take her out but was told she wasrushing it and that she was still frail and that it could "havebeen a coincidence" that she perked up. Pat said thatalthough she did not have their qualifications she knew whatmade her mum happy,. Eventually it was agreed that she couldgo round the corner to the park but as she was in bed it tookthem so long to come to get her up that she went to sleep. On the Thursday 2nd August Pat had a conversation with theMatron, Fiona, as May had to be put on a drip as she would noteat or drink. Pat had said she would not want her mum to beresusitated and that what was the protocol about keeping heralive. Fiona had said that they would not resusitate unlessthere was a good reason for it. Pat made the comment aboutnot keeping an animal suffering like this as May was crying forher Mum and Dad all the time. At 8.51 on Saturday 4 August Pat received a call from St JamesLodge (Jacky) to say that sadly May had just passed away. Whenasked why she was not called was told there had not been timebut that Carole had been with her. This bothered Patall day and night and on Sunday 5 August went in to ask Mariannewhy she had not been called. Marianne seemed surprised that shehad not as she had left it in the notes that Pat should becalled. Pat asked whether the drip had been removed beforeshe died because of what was said on the 2nd. Pat hadinformation, which she did not want to drop anyone in it, to saythat May had been sat with all night. Pat said that she did notwant to be fobbed off but wanted to know why she had not beencalled so this did not happen to anyone else. This was leftwith Marianne to look in to. (the person on duty who phoned was in charge with Gladys - Pathad had certain feelings in the past with Jacky, mostly good, but occasionally not so - awaiting information as to why thecall was not made).
